I don't make New Year's Resolutions, and yet I firmly believe in writing down your intentions. I believe the universe is waiting to meet our needs, but we have to articulate them. Prayers are answered when you can fully describe what you are seeking. Ask and it shall be given. Knock and the door shall be opened.
So in that spirit, I give you my intentions - 9 of them - for 2009.
In this year we call 2009
I shall turn half a century.
50 years. 50 birthdays.
50 times I have marked my existence, blown out the candles, made a wish.
In that spirit, I will make 9 wishes. State 9 intentions. Surrender 9 desires. Jump. And let the net appear.
9 - I want to release my body from the extra weight that has encased it. Let it go. Let go of the fear, the shame, the loss that keeps me hidden away. I am ready to let the butterfly out of the cocoon. And it's going to take time and effort - for me.
8 - I will invest time in my relationships. My friends are dear to me and too often I find that months, even years have passed, and we haven't even had a cup of coffee. No more excuses. Time to give my time.
7 - I am letting go of old wounds. There has been enough pain now. It's time to let go of those who disappointed me and wish them well on their journey.
6 - My better self knows the difference between indulgence and OVER indulgence. I love wine. I love chocolate. I love good whiskey and food and the numberless sensual pleasures to be found in food and drink. But a little is enough. Take the time to smell and taste and see these treats...and be sufficient.
5 - Break out the golf clubs and hit the ball. I took up golf to spend time with my ex-husband. But I really would like to spend some on the driving range. This will accomplish two things, possibly three. I will work off some aggression smashing the little white ball. I'll get some tone back in my upper arms. And the next time I have to golf with my managers, I won't embarrass myself.
4 - Almost 2 years ago, I drove across the country with my daughter. View blog here http://expotitiontoboston.blogspot.com/ I loved the driving almost as much as I loved the sights. I need to take some driving trips to new places.
3 - Writing, writing and more writing. I need to update this blog more often. See movies and write about them. Read books and write about them. Walk the world and write about it. Wake up in the middle of the night - write. Need to write some short stories and poems and start that play. Get at it girl.
2 - I'm lonely. There. I said it. And I don't know what to do about it.
1 - Be more present. Let go of the past. Stop worrying about the future. And just BE.
